Cast Iron & Heat: The enamel coating inside our range of cast iron teapots is a dark, glass enamel specifically formulated to coat the surface of cast iron. This coating has passed tests for leachable heavy metals, confirming that it is free from harmful substances, including lead, and complies with the European Commission Regulation & the German LFGB requirement.
Due to this enamel coating, these cast iron pots are not recommended for a maximum temperature above 260° Celsius. We do not suggest these pots for direct contact with open flames, particularly fires, as it is not possible to regulate heat in these circumstances, which runs the risk of cracking or delaminating the enamel. Additionally, our range all have exterior colour coatings that are likely to burn and discolour with close contact with high heat levels.
